Lost-wax microcasting, also known as investment casting, allows for the production of parts with superior quality and greater precision compared to traditional casting methods. This results in a longer lifespan for the part and, consequently, cost savings.

The Microcasting Process Steps
Design: Tecnoalloy designs the parts to be produced using the most innovative software on the market to ensure maximum possible durability.
Mold and Wax Model Creation: An aluminum alloy mold is created, and semi-liquid wax is injected into it using special presses. The wax model serves as the base for the final casting shape.
Ceramic Shell Fabrication: The wax model is dipped into ceramic slurries and coated with refractory materials, forming successive layers that constitute the ceramic shell. This shell must be thick enough to withstand metallostatic pressure during the casting process.
Wax Evacuation: Once dried, the ceramic shell is placed in an autoclave to completely remove the wax, leaving a perfect cavity for the metal casting.
Shell Firing: The ceramic shell is then fired at a high temperature in a furnace to increase its strength and prepare it for casting.
Casting: Austenitic steel is melted and poured into the hot ceramic shell (about 800°C). After casting, the metal solidifies and cools within the shell. This process ensures superior intrinsic quality compared to traditional casting methods. The high temperature of the shell significantly reduces thermal shock during casting, facilitating the flow of molten metal within the mold and almost completely eliminating defects.
Shell Removal: After cooling, the ceramic shell is removed through knock-out and sandblasting.
Finishing: The individual microcast parts are deburred and undergo any necessary machining processes to meet the required specifications.
Final Inspections: The final phase includes analytical and dimensional checks to ensure that the castings meet the required quality standards.
